  • So I am back from vacation. It was really nice and we had a lot of fun. Have explored all of one side of the big island and if we go back it will be to explore the other side. Unfortunately we did not get to see lava flowing out of the volcano. It is flowing but is closed off to people so that you can not get close enough to see it. But we did walk on the lava take took over the road a few years back. Went to some museums and saw a lot of waterfalls. Even got to go to a few quilt shops. Didn't buy anything though. Hubby went golfing at the Volcano golf course. Which you would think would have lava formation on it and such but nope it didn't. Oh well its all right. Then we came back and went to a luau the next night. It wasn't as fun as paradise cove where we usually go. So probably won't be going back there anytime soon. I really felt like I was a cow being herded to my table, then to the pig ceremony where you are packed in so tight you can hardly move to see a mesh offering come out of the pit that doesn't even resemble a pig, then back to the table to sit and wait forever to go thru the buffet line. Yeah I really like paradise cove where it is open and you don't have to sit at your table waiting for something to happen. You have things to do before dinner and all the ceremonies are done before you even sit down at the table. Plus you have the option to be served your food rather than go thru the buffet line. Same exact stuff only it is brought to you. The only plus about germanine's is that you can go to the tiny gift shop and buy a pint glass ($8.00) that you can then take to the bar and use your free drink coupons on for bigger drinks.  But the smell from a factory that is near it is just yucky. So one plus doesn't make me want to go back any time soon.

Back to work today. Not looking forward to that at all. Hubby gets advanced tomorrow. When I called for the 4th time to get my schedule I told my boss about that and she had the nerve to tell me that it didn't work for her. Me going to the pinning ceremony that is sometime tomorrow. Not sure what time yet probably 1pm. I start work at 1:30pm. Oh well shit happens lady and his pinning is more important than your schedule or job. I can guarntee that she is going to ask me if I know when it will be today when I go in and I told her when I spoke to her that I wouldn't know anything till Wednesday morning at the earliest. I hate her. I might just be handing in my notice by the end of this week if not sooner. I only have 3 days worth of schedule right now and I am supposed to have whatever schedule 2 weeks before I am to start working it not one day. I also have a feeling that she is going to be making me close all the time cause the other 2 have school age kids. Well that is not going to be happening!!! BITE ME!!! Oh well off to type up a letter so that I can have it at the ready.

    Have a great week!!

  • Can I get a Woot Woot!!

For vacation!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup that is me for the next week!!! VACATION. Hubby and I are taking our first ever real live vacation that doesn't involve moving to a new state/home/unit or visiting family cause we live in a different state far far away. Plus it is just about our birthdays and he will be leaving shortly till Thanksgiving time. So we are going to the Big Island to play on the lava for about a week. Then we come back and go to a luau with the neighbors for another neighbors birthday. Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the only mar in the work life is the idiot pool. I get an email last night from a friend that teachs where I work. She tells me in this email that a person that works in a different shop than do told her I was quitting. Well this girl is an idiot and tried this with another person. Uh if I was leaving where I worked I would tell the few people I am closer with before I would say anything to anyone. So me thinks I am going to have to be having a sit down with idiot and her boss to set her in her place. I freakin hate people that do this. What I do is none of her business and besides she doesn't know me all that well.

So we have had the steaks, some of the potato balls and some of the pork chops from our delivery. Every thing we have had so far is yummy. Oh my is it yummy. The filet mignon was so tender it was like eating out at a resturant. The potato balls we were kind of iffy on but man oh man they were yummy. I am pretty sure that they used real potatos in the making of the that. Which is the bomb cause I HATE instant mashed potato flakes. The pork chops were really yummy. Haven't had anything else lately but no worries everything will be eaten except that fish stuff. War if I could mail it out to you I would. But it would cost me more than it is worth to do that from this rock!!!!!

All right that is it from the rock for today. Have a great weekend!!! I am out for the week!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Okay so I said that DH parents were getting us steaks from Omaha Steaks. Ya well it arrived yesterday. Here is what we expected when they said steaks.. A couple of steaks nothing more. Here is what we got: 4-5oz top sirloin steaks, 4-4oz boneless pork chops, 2-4.5oz stuffed sole (yuck), 8-3oz packages of gourmet franks, 1-10 count potatoes au gratin, 4-4oz omaha steak burgers, 4-4oz boneless chicken breasts, 2-5oz filet mignons. So we have like enough meat for meals for about a month. Well except for the stuffed sole. Cause we don't like fish but it was part of the package that they bought.

So we shall see how this tastes. Went to the website www.omahasteaks.com and checked out what they have. I never knew that they had side dishes and pasta dishes and desserts. I always thought that they were beef and beef only. But as you can tell they are beef and so much more. Tomorrow is filet mignon night with potatoes au gratin and corn on the cob. Have to go out and get the corn before work tomorrow so that I don't have to go tomorrow.

So off to shower and get ready to do that and then work this afternoon with a store meeting to follow. Must look into another job!!!!!!!!

  • YEAH!!!!!!! Got an email from Omaha Steaks today. Seems the inlaws are buying hubby steaks for his birthday!!! Cause he got the new grill and all. They will be here sometime on Friday!!!! Woo Hoo!!! Never had steaks from them before so we shall see if we like them.

Finished another quilt top yesterday I think. Not sure if I am going to add another small border to it or not. But at this point it is big enough to cover my queen sized bed almost all the way. Oops that wasn't the size I was going for. Oh well my sister who I made it for should like it, I hope.

I also finished my koa box yesterday. All it needs is a coat of sealer to put on it. I think that we might have something here at the house that hubby can help me with to seal it. I'm not sure though. I will have to take pictures of it so that all can see it. Off to start another quilt maybe.

  • So our 4th was lots of fun. We enjoyed everything up until the fireworks. The parade field we were sitting in had a huge tree that was right next to and behind the stage for the National Guard Band and that was where the fireworks were going off. Most of them did not clear the top of the tree and there was no music along with them. So boo hiss on that part. But the real cannon fire with the 1812 overture was great and the flag ceremony was really neat as well. So all in all a good day with friends and fun.

The only thing that sucked was getting off base after it was all over. But that was lack of planning on the Army's fault. So oh well.

Then Thursday and Saturday I shop hopped!!! Went with my quilt teacher Dawn and we just had tons of fun. I now have a list of 11 different quilts that I want to make. So let's see how far I get on that list. Some are presents some are just for fun. So a busy little sewer I will be. She also has a list and it is longer than mine! Must get to sewing.

    Have a great week everyone!!

  • YEAH!! A holiday and hubby doesn't have duty. So we are off to enjoy the day up on Schofield with my quilting buddy. She is making ribs and I am making potato salad and then we are all making homemade ice cream!!! Dh has never done that before. Oh man is he in for a treat!!!

Got a new microwave this week. Gosh the food cooks fast in this one. Maybe we should have gotten a new one sooner. Also got him a air pop popcorn maker. He loves that thing. I think he might wear it out before it is 6 months old. Only had it 3 days and all ready he has made popcorn in it 4 times. Oh well as long as he is happy and I don't have to be making popcorn for him all the time.

He said yesterday when I got home from work that they were working on the house next door yesterday. Why oh why are you going to move someone in there? I mean you know that we are all going to be moving out with in the next 6-9 months cause you are tearing them down so why are you going to be doing anything to it????????? God these people suck!!!

Everyone have a safe and happy 4th of July. I am off to finish the potato salad and do some sewing before we head out.

  • Oh my gosh it is so quiet in the neighborhood now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been enjoying the quiet all week. I would be enjoying my backyard more if A) I had a lounge chair for it and B) it wasn't so dang hot and the UV index wasn't so high. Oh well.

So peaceful anyways. Haven't done much of anything crafty this past week. Just finishing up projects that are sitting around the table. Took another quilt class yesterday. It was the Drunkard's Path. Wanted practice on the curving on pieces. Wasn't to impressed with the teacher though so I probably won't be taking any more classes from her. Was thinking of taking another one from her in a few weeks but I think that I will save my money on that one and try it on my own. Who tells students to buy a product and then critizes the way the product does things? Yup that is exactly what she did. So not impressed. Oh well. Life goes on.

Off to sew some stuff on hubby's uniform and work on my curves.

    Have a great Sunday!!

  • So I took pictures of my pineapple yesterday so that you could see how big it is now. I also was checking my quilt file and found that I had a few new ones to share that well aren't so new anymore. Man I have gotten so bad at things. I have a 3 off to be quilted and didn't take a picture of one of them before it left. The other 2 I have pictures of. I just finished a quilt yesterday that was a challenge for the place that I work at. By challenge I mean that the main fabrics are choosen for you and then you have to figure out what to do with them.

    So here we go:

    6-18-07

The surviving pineapple. I would show the last picture I have of it but not sure where it went.

    Spiderweb Misadventures 6-18-07

    Spiderweb Misadventures challenge quilt.

    Turtle Goridian Knot 11-06

Turtle Goridian Knot from November of last year.

    Turtle Party Wallhanging 3-10-07

Turtle Party Wallhanging. The heads and tails are 3D and stick out of the quilt.

I have one that is flamingos out at the quilter right now. That one is for my mom. So when it comes home again I will take a picture of that and show everyone. It is the first one I did from a book with no class at all. I also have the pineapple one that I took as a one day class back in March that I am finishing up right now. Might actually finish it today. Then Saturday I have a class on the Drunkard's Path pattern. So I will be busy busy with these.

Neighbor is still here but there are 2 loaded Uhauls sitting out in the parking lot. Why they didn't drive them away last night is beyond me. But I am hoping that by the time I get home from work today they will be gone.

    Happy Tuesday!!

  • So here is to the start of a new week. Mine is off to a good start. Finished a quilt that was ordered from a co worker yesterday. Have the one day pineapple to quilt this week and then I will be caught up till the 4 that are off being quilted come back. Saw Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday. It was really good and fun but oh my god by the time the credits rolled thru I had to pee so bad. So went out to pee and then went back in to not miss the ending. So glad that I went back in. So I have to say if you have not all ready seen the movie make sure you sit thru the 10-15 minutes of credits or at least go out and relieve yourself and then go back in. Then we went to a place called Moe's for dinner. Me not so impressed. It is fresh mex fast food style. It was good but if I want to eat off of tin foil I would go to an outside food stand. Oh well been there and done that.

Last week was an emotional roller coaster for me. Hopefully I won't be having any more of those any time soon.

Hubby and I are planning our first real vacation. Yup that is right married 12 and a half years and we are going on a vacation that does not involve visiting family, friends and PCS move or a just married vacation!!!!!!!! The only thing involved is that we are going around our birthdays next month. We are trying to decide between Maui or the Big Island. Never been to Maui but have been to the Big Island for a 2 day, 1 night thing with my parents so still lots to see there. But here is the kicker they have a ferry coming out here next year that will be stopping in Maui and not the Big Island. So I was leaning towards Maui but now I am thinking more towards the Big Island. Who knew planning a vacation could be this stressful?

Yesterday we also got rid of a pineapple plant. Poor thing got knocked over in a wind gust a couple months ago and was only attached to the main stalk by a little bit. I thought that it was still surviving but it wasall dried up and not growing. Poor thing. Oh well it was the one that had all ready produced one pineapple and was working on the second one so it had all ready done its job for me. The other pineapple is doing well. I haven't taken a recent shot of it. I will have to do that this week. When we took the pineapple out of the planter it was a mass of roots the size of the planter. It was really neat.

Another high point for this week is that the neighbor from hell is moving like today or tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So that chapter is almost over. I am so happy. The only person I feel sorry for is her husband. Such a nice guy but she is such a bi*(&. Saw him at the COC for the boat on Friday night and he was like hi neighbor I can't talk to at the house. So we chatted for a moment and then went on our way. Saw him the next day out in front of his house and said hi and have a great afternoon and heard her yelling from inside the house to him. Poor guy. Then yesterday as we were leaving she had to call out and ask if it was okay for her to drive her truck on the lawn to load stuff from the backyard up. We said sure and assumed the conversation was over as we were walking to the car to leave. Nope she kept talking about how were we sure it was all right cause we water it and all and blah blah blah. Bit@# you asked we said sure go ahead END OF CONVERSATION.

So here's to a great week!!!

  • So my weekend has gone great so far. Saturday after I got off work came home and relaxed before meeting friends at Outback. It was her birthday and hubby and I were the surprise people at her dinner. She was surprised and we all had a lot of fun. Gave her the gift from her online quilting friends and this was the expression we got from that

    shocked that they did this

Yeah not the best photo but that was the expression after seeing her gift from them. So now it is time to go shopping and we will be doing that on Wednesday morning.

So then yesterday we went to ride on the only real train on Oahu. Way back when they used trains to transport just about everything from the fields to the processing plants. Now it is a ride that you can do every Sunday and it is 13 miles roundtrip on the Army transport cars that were used back when trains were used alot.

    100_2553

Isn't it neat? We sat in the car right behind the engine. That was a mistake. Note to self next time sit in a different car. So that was my weekend so far.

Today is doctor's appointment and then a few errands after that. Then home to do some sewing.
